NORTHAMPTON — Another truck has crashed into a railroad bridge, though not the one commonly referred to as the “truck-eating bridge.”
At 12:13 p.m. Friday, the Northampton Police Department received a call that a truck had crashed into the railroad bridge over North Street.
“It was really loud,” said Peter Underdown, a contractor working in the vicinity.
The truck was removed from the area at 1:23 p.m.
Police say that the crash is still under investigation.
The notorious “truck-eating bridge” that crosses over Bridge Street has taken at least 39 hits since 2009.
Police have said that, before this year, the North Street bridge hadn’t been hit for seven or eight years. It was hit once in July.
