NORTHAMPTON — For the second time in as many elections, Florence resident John Martine is offering free, round-trip rides to all polling locations in Northampton on Election Day.
Martine’s Poll Taxi runs during Tuesday’s polling hours from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and is geared toward people who need transportation for this year’s municipal election.
“I try to do it by appointment,” Martine said. “The earlier they (voters) know, the better.”
Martine’s free taxi service first emerged during the November 2018 election. Voters can reserve a ride by calling 413-587-3323.
“There’s a lot of people who don’t have cars, and they don’t know how they are going to get to the polls,” Martine said. “Any way I can be helpful to move the process along.”
