The Oct. 22 letter from Dan Peacock urged the colleges to use the trains. This would provide the increase in riders that would allow the new train services to be made permanent.

The real problem is that students, professors and others who used to ride the train and would love to do so again have no way to get to the train station. There is no bus that connects with the train schedules and drops you off close to the station; there is no free parking so that you could drive to the station and use the train for a weekend away as there used to be in Amherst.

If this problem could be solved, the number of riders would go up. As it is now, many students and I take the bus to New York City.
