SOUTHAMPTON — It has been a lucky month for some lottery players in the Pioneer Valley.

On Friday, a local man won $1 million after purchasing a $5 “Platinum Payout” ticket at the Stop & Save in Southampton, according to the store’s owner, Raja Bashir. The winner, whom Bashir did not identify, came in for Keno as he usually does, and bought a lottery ticket afterward.

“I looked at him — there was something wrong,” Bashir said with a laugh. “I said, ‘My friend, what happened.’ He said, “Raja, look at that ticket.’ … He was shaking.” The winner has not been identified yet on the state lottery website.

Bashir noted his store will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

The Southampton winner was one of three area residents to win a $1 million prize from the Massachusetts State Lottery this month.

Earlier this month, Easthampton resident Ferzet Hodzic purchased a $1 million winner from Valley Farms on Northampton Street. Hodzic has plans to buy a home and a car with the winnings, according to a Nov. 4 press release from the state lottery.

Donald Lamagdeleine of Westfield also won a $1 million prize early this month after purchasing a winning ticket at Stop & Shop on Northampton Street in Holyoke.
