It’s been disheartening, to say the least, to see so many “fake news’’ comments about the homeless among us being so much “trouble” downtown. Some have suggested they choose to be jobless, homeless and hungry! Step into their shoes for a day before you make such an assumption.
I struggle as a passerby with how to help them without necessarily giving money that sometimes doesn’t get well used. This is what I have been doing for about a year: I buy packets of tuna fish (not the can) and give it to them, keeping it available in my car. I have had such gracious responses and smiles from the recipients. Try it in this season of sharing, it will feed somebody and warm their heart and yours.
