— Text and photo by Carol Lollis Credit: I took this photograph last summer while doing a story on the Earth Works Camp in Conway. “At Home in the Woods,” is a youth day camp which emphasizes wilderness skills. As soon as the photographer and I walked up to the site in the woods I noticed children crawling, climbing and sneaking up on the other campers. I quickly started taking pictures when I noticed Max Bonham behind a tree. The sun cooperated, as well, shining a beam of light right through the trees on Max’s face. Taking good pictures makes me happy but whether the photo is good or not, the experience of the moment itself is what keeps me loving my job. I was so happy to watch children at home in the outdoors, playing, working, sneaking and enjoying nature. Being allowed to watch that in and of itself seems like a gift but then I got a picture I liked, as well.
