Albert Einstein once defined intelligence as the ability to hold conflicting viewpoints and still be able to function.
Consider the following statements: (1) Donald Trump is an imbecile and; (2) the case for this impeachment may be weak. Could you have a discussion along those lines? Most likely you could not.
The emotional investment is just too overwhelming. When I attempted to have such a conversation it triggered cognitive dissonance so intense that I feared that I was about to witness spontaneous self-combustion.
In the end, the Senate will vote to acquit. There is absolutely zero chance for any other outcome.
