NORTHAMPTON — A juvenile is facing multiple charges after allegedly leading police on a car chase from Bridge Road to the Cummington town line Tuesday night.

Northampton Police Sgt. Joseph Barszcz said officers were called to 228 King St. at 11:28 p.m. for a report of a car that had pulled out of Stop & Shop and quickly turned its headlights off.

An officer attempted to pull it over on Bridge Road, Barszcz said, but the driver allegedly kept driving on various side streets and Route 9 through Williamsburg.

Police stopped their pursuit of the car at the Cummington line, Barszcz said. Massachusetts State Police later found the vehicle and identified the operator, Barszcz said. The car, a Kia Rio, was discovered to be reported stolen out of Pittsfield.

The alleged driver, an unidentified juvenile male, will be issued a summons on charges of receiving a stolen motor vehicle, failure to stop for police, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
