HS basketball: Sadiq paces Amherst Regional past Chicopee Comp

Zayd Sadiq had 23 points with two 3-pointers as the Amherst Regional boys basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak and beat Chicopee Comp, 56-52, at home Tuesday.

Tabor Bowman (10 rebounds) and Evan Stewart (five assists, four rebounds, three steals) each had 10 points for Amherst (3-5).

Athol 65, Smith Academy 42 — Caden Guimond scored 19 points and made two 3s in a home loss. Nate Moynihan added 13 points and five rebounds for the Falcons (2-6, 1-3 Hampshire North).

Riley Intrator distributed five assists.

Baystate Academy 79, Hampshire Regional 62 — Justin Forest hit seven 3s and scored 34 points but the Raiders (5-2, 3-1 Bi-County East) fell at home.

Jamil Rodriguez also reached double figures with 10 points for the Raiders.

Travis Jordan had 31 points for Baystate.

Girls basketball

Smith Vocational 44, Sci-Tech 23 — Haleigh Pensivy led the Vikings to a home win with 19 points. Ella Sherman added eight points for Smith Vocational (3-4).

The Vikings held the Cybercats scoreless in the second and third quarters.

Gateway Regional 40, Renaissance 38 — Peyton Bucko scored 15 points, as the Gators won at home. Donna Viel added nine points, and Hannah Duggan had eight for Gateway (3-4).

Frontier Regional 65, Athol 36 — Marie Diemand had a team-high 15 points, while Kaitlyn Mackin had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Red Hawks (4-3, 2-1 Franklin North) in South Deerfield.

Kylie Laford added 10 points in the win.
