In response to the Jan. 2 article, “Pushing back on pending loss of SNAP benefits,” I was encouraged to read that the Franklin Hampshire Career Center and the Department of Transitional Assistance are helping people find work.
There is another agency, right in Northampton, that is always there to help those facing food insecurity, particularly after the president’s cuts in SNAP benefits for “able bodied adults without dependents.” The Northampton Survival Center is always there to help anyone facing the many circumstances that arise that make adults have to choose among meeting basic needs, including food.
The center is available to residents of 18 communities, including Northampton, Easthampton and South Hadley, as well as the Hilltowns, providing nourishing, healthy food including eggs, meat and fresh produce in an atmosphere of kindness, warmth and respect. During these winter months, it is particularly important for those in need to know that the Northampton Survival Center is always available.
