Resistance Film
Series now Frances Crowe Film Series

The Resistance Film Series of the Northampton Committee to Stop the Wars, begun 15 years ago by peace activist Frances Crowe, is now the Frances Crowe Film Series, a living continuation of the work she started because of her enduring belief in the power of documentary film to make social change. The tribute caries her work forward into the future โ€“ Crowe died last summer at the age of 100.

The Oliver Stone film, โ€œSouth of the Border,โ€ will be shown Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Forbes Library Community Room, 20 West St., Northampton. Local activist Marty Nathan and others will speak about the current situation.

In the 2009 film, filmmaker Oliver Stone interviews Venezuelaโ€™s Hugo Chรกvez, Brazilโ€™s Lula da Silva and other leaders, in an examination of social and political movements in South America.

The Frances Crowe Film Series is co-sponsored by The Resistance Center of Western MA and the Northampton Committee to Stop the Wars, and discussion follows the showings. The free and accessible film screenings occur on the fourth Wednesdays of each month.
