HS basketball: Boudreau putback lifts Frontier Regional past Hopkins Academy

An offensive rebound and putback by Collin Boudreau with only seconds remaining propelled the Frontier Regional boys basketball to a 45-43 victory over Hopkins Academy in Hadley on Tuesday.

A last second shot by the Golden Hawks missed the mark.

Brett Robinson scored a career-high 18 points on four 3-pointers. Robinson scored 13 points in the third quarter alone.

“Brett Robinson put the team on his back in the second half and really willed us to victory,” Frontier coach Ben Barshefsky said. “He was under control and balanced.”

Boudreau contributed nine points for Frontier (8-3), while Owen Walkowicz added six points of his own.

Colin Earle and Andrew Ciaglo produced 14 and 12 points for Hopkins Academy (7-5), respectively.

Gateway Regional 74, Pioneer Christian 32 — Jayden Santiago-Lopez (three 3s) and Evan Cortis each scored 22 points in a home win.

The Gators (2-9, 1-2 Tri-County South) snapped a six-game losing streak.

Taylor Shedd added 20 points to give Gateway another scoring option.

Pioneer started the game with six players. Two players fouled out and the team played the final five minutes with four players on the floor.

Putnam 51, Holyoke 49 — Brian Cristobal had 19 points on five 3-pointers, but the Purple Knights (5-4, 0-1 Valley League) dropped their league opener at home.

Holyoke led by one after the first quarter and by five at halftime. The Beavers (7-3, 1-0) outscored the Knights 16-11 to tie the game entering the fourth quarter.

Jovaughn Smith added 11 points in defeat.

Belchertown 59, Smith Academy 32 — Jordan Lanoue scored 19 points in a road win. Nate Schiffer had 13 points for the Orioles (3-5).

Nate Moynihan led the Falcons (2-8) with 11 points and seven rebounds.

Smith Vocational 46, St. Mary 44 — Andrew Pierce compiled 14 points and 10 rebounds in a home win.

Jaxson Venne added eight points, and Carlos Rivera scored seven.

Isaiah Ortiz had four steals and three assists for the Vikings (5-4, 5-0 Tri-County South).

Girls basketball

Granby 47, Belchertown 39 — Nora Young scored 25 points with 12 rebounds, five steals and two blocks, as the Rams (5-5, 1-1 Suburban) won at home.

Julia Frappier pulled down 10 rebounds and added five assists. Kaeleigh Croteau added seven points.

Erin Lucas led Belchertown with 10 points. Gina Camerota scored seven.

Longmeadow 58, Holyoke 51 — Yamaya Perez hit four 3s and scored 19 points, but the Purple Knights fell on the road.

Holyoke (7-5, 1-1 Valley) led 29-20 at halftime.

Bianca Ortiz added nine points and Taryn Ryan had seven.

Monson 63, South Hadley 36 — Paige Marjanski contributed 12 points in a road loss.

Kate Walas and Olivia Marion each added nine points for the Tigers (3-9, 1-1 Suburban).
