PELHAM — Two people were taken by ambulance to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries following a two-car crash at the intersection of Route 202 and Amherst Road Tuesday morning, according to Pelham police.

Police officers and firefighters from Pelham were summoned to the scene at around 11:50 a.m., where extrication tools were used to remove a driver from one of the vehicles, said officer Connor Parnell.

Two Amherst Fire Department ambulances responded and brought one person for treatment to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, while the other driver was transported to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton.

Both roads were closed at the intersection for about 30 minutes, Parnell said.

Pelham public safety officials were assisted by Shutesbury, Belchertown and state police. Relentless Towing removed both heavily damaged vehicles.

Parnell said the crash remains under investigation and no citations have been issued.
