NORTHAMPTON — A Northampton bicyclist suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries Wednesday night in a crash involving a parked vehicle and passing car on Pleasant Street.

Northampton Police Capt. Robert Powers said officers responded to 196 Pleasant St. in front of Yes Computers at 7:25 p.m. for a report of a pedestrian struck by a car. Officers determined at the scene that there was a crash between a bicyclist traveling south, a parked car and another car traveling south, according to Powers and Police Chief Jody Kasper who provided details on the department’s Facebook page.

The bicyclist, a 22-year-old woman who was not wearing a helmet, was transported to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield with injuries to her head, face and shoulder, Kasper said.

Police closed the road until 9:48 p.m. so members of the department’s Accident Reconstruction Team, Detective Bureau and Crime Scene Services Unit could investigate the incident, Kasper said. According to Powers, the passing car’s two occupants stayed at the scene and no charges have been filed.

The crash is still under investigation.
