The Hampshire Regional girls basketball team defeated South Hadley, 61-60, Friday night at South Hadley High School.

Maddie Pond scored a game-high 22 points (six 3-pointers) to lead the Raiders (11-4, 5-0 Suburban).

Olivia Marion scored 18 points for the Tigers (5-10, 3-2 Suburban).

South Hadley outscored Hampshire, 19-10, in the final frame, but it was not enough to complete the comeback.

Belchertown 40, Agawam 29 — Erin Lucas scored a career-high 15 points (four 3s) to lead the Orioles (4-10, 1-4 Suburban). Avery Klingensmith chipped in eight points and scooped up 14 rebounds.

Agawam outscored Belchertown, 13-3, in the opening quarter, but the Orioles battled back to earn the victory.

Belchertown struggled to break Agawam’s press early in the game.

“That gave us problems,” Belchertown coach Jason Woodcock said. “We cleaned it up. … The girls deserve all the credit. Agawam plays a physical game.”

Chicopee Comp 52, Granby 44 —Nora Young scored 12 points and picked up eight rebounds for the Rams (7-7). Julia Gauvin scored six points and scooped up seven rebounds.

Granby led by three points with a few minutes to go in the game, but Comp pulled ahead late.

“We got loose with the ball, had some turnovers, they made some shots,” Granby coach Tom Burke said. “Down the stretch they made some shots and made their free throws.”

Frontier Regional 52, Smith Academy 40 —Kaitlyn Mackin scored 18 points to lead the Red Hawks (10-4), who qualified for the postseason. Amelia Sobieski chipped in 17 points.

Emma Kelly scored 17 points for the Falcons (6-10).

Renaissance 41, Smith Vocational 31 — Haleigh Pensivy and Kora Kelly each scored eight points for the Vikings (4-9).

Central 47, Northampton 31 — Amanda Mieczkowski scored a team-high 11 points for the Blue Devils (9-5, 1-3 Valley) in the road loss.

Northampton trailed Central by two at halftime.

“We played pretty even. Down the stretch we had to foul a bit,” Northampton coach Perry Messer said. “The girls played hard.”

Alecia Maxwell scored a game-high 19 points for the Golden Eagles (8-6, 4-1 Valley).

“Maxwell is a tough girl,” Messer said. “Tough matchup.”

Amherst Regional 49, Ludlow 21 — The Hurricanes (13-2, 4-1 Central) led 38-10 at halftime en route to the road victory.

Delaney MacPhetres had 12 points, while Daizany Mares, Erin Klaes and Tessa Kawall each had nine points.

Williston 62,Wilbraham & Monson 50 — Jordyn Meunier scored 17 points to lead the Wildcats. Caroline O’Connor (Southampton) had 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Selena Negron (Easthampton) had 15 points and eight boards.

Cristina Negron (Easthampton) scored 12 points with five assists. Williston shot 15-for-17 as a team from the free-throw line.

Julia Farnham (Amherst) led Williston with six assists.

Boys basketball

Holyoke 74, Pope Francis 50 — William Cruz scored a game-high 20 points (two 3s) for the Purple Knights (7-5, 2-2 Valley). Brian Cristobal chipped in 10 points.

Duggan 83, Smith Vocational 45 — Carlos Rivera scored 10 points for the Vikings (6-6). Andrew Pierce scored nine points.

Granby 77, Ludlow 63 — Ryan Gaughan scored a game-high 23 points (five rebounds, seven assists, two steals) to lead the Rams (7-6). Nathan Breault chipped in 11 points.

Williston 53, Deerfield 51 — Cooper Creek drilled a 3-pointer at the buzzer to life the Wildcats on the road.

Creek and Billy Whelan each finished with 12 points. Tanner Thomas had a team-high 15, while Maleek McNeil added 10.

Hockey

Greenfield 9, Southwick 0 — Aiden Roach (three), Kyle Barnes (two), Porter Clancey, Bryan Baumann, Sean O’Sullivan and Jacob Bryant scored for the Green Wave (13-2).

Shane Prusak (two), Mike McGoldrick (two), Sammy Knight, Kevin Baumann, Derek Lenois, Adam Savoy, Booie Harris, Roach, Bryan Baumann, O’Sullivan and Bryant had assists. Riley Drew made 20 saves.

Wahconah 5, Easthampton 1 — Owen Duda scored the lone goal for the Eagles (1-8-1) in the first period on Thursday. Matt Sullivan had the assist.
