Now that the Republicans in the U.S. Senate have completed their impressive “Three Blind Mice” performance during the recent Trump impeachment trail, they have once again demonstrated why the American public holds Congress in such low regard.
It was clear from the start, when Mitch McConnell publicly stated that he had no intention of being impartial (just before raising his hand and swearing impartiality before the chief justice of the Supreme Court!) that this would be a sham trial with a predetermined outcome. If the Senate refuses to hold this run-away president accountable for his blatant abuses of office, let’s hope that the voters will step up in November and do what the spineless Republicans apparently don’t have the courage to do.
