The Belchertown boys basketball team beat Pioneer Regional and got the help it needed to qualify for the playoffs.

Jordan Lanoue had 26 points, while Nathan Sajdak had 13 for the Orioles in a 66-62 victory in Northfield, Monday.

Belchertown (9-11, 4-4 Hampshire South) finished second in the league thanks to Maharโ€™s 59-55 victory over Turners Falls on Monday.

All three teams finished second at 4-4. Mahar needed to beat Turners to qualify for the postseason.

Owen Raines added 11 points for the Orioles.

Holyoke 84, Pope Francis 50 โ€” Jovaughn Smith had 24 points, Brian Cristobal added 14 and Jesus Ibarra had 11 as the Purple Knights (11-8, 5-4 Valley League) won at home.

Monument Mountain 87, Granby 62 โ€” Ryan Gaughan had 16 points and Josh Hart added 10, but the Rams (10-9) fell on the road.

Dion Brown had 37 points and four 3s for the Spartans (14-5).

St. Mary 45, Gateway 44 (OT) โ€” Colin Ramos broke a tie with a 3-pointer with eight seconds left, but the Gators (2-18, 1-9 Tri-County South) couldnโ€™t answer in the season-ending loss at home.

Evan Cortis had 20 points while senior Taylor Shedd added 14 in his final high school game.

Baystate Academy 78, Hopkins Academy 61 โ€” Andrew Ciaglo had 26 points and five 3-pointers for the Golden Hawks (13-7), but it wasnโ€™t enough to overcome Baystateโ€™s shooting.

Baystate (14-6) had 12 3s, including five in a 29-point third quarter.

Ryan Antes added 12 points for Hopkins.

Both teams closed the regular season.

Athol 75, Smith Academy 57 โ€” Caden Guimond had 20 points, while Aiden Pedersen and Nate Moynihan each had eight for the visiting Falcons (5-15, 2-6 Hampshire North).

Drury 60, Frontier Regional 46 โ€” Peter Carey returned from a four-game absence due to an injury and had 15 points for the visiting Red Hawks (15-4).

Ware 59, Easthampton 58 โ€” Nate Morse hit his second 3 with 20 seconds left to put the Eagles (2-18) up one, but the Indians (11-9) made two free throws with 11 seconds left and a last-second shot rimmed out in the season finale at home.

Gabe Colenback had 16 points, Owen Morse added 15 and Mike Brown had 12 for Easthampton.

It was the final high school game for Nate Morse (eight points), Brown and Sean Sabourin (seven points).
