Hampshire Regional senior Michael Baldwin has a chance to make history on Saturday.

Baldwin is the 182-pound semifinals at the State Division 3 Tournament at Wayland High School. Baldwin is seeking his first state championship.

He opened Friday’s first day of the tournament with a pin of Foxborough’s Sean Gallagher in 1 minute, 58 seconds. He followed with another pin, this time over Cole Patrick, of Marblehead/Swampscott, in 2:37.

Baldwin will face Jeremy Driscoll, of South Shore, in the semifinals. Spencer Fetrow, of Holliston, and Markys Lissaint, of Pathfinder, are in the other semifinal. Baldwin beat Lissaint in the finals of the sectional tournament.

Fetrow lost in the state finals in 2019.

Mason Willard, of Hampshire Regional, opened with a 2-1 win over Andrew Breare, of Dedham, in the round of 16 at 170 pounds. He dropped into the consolation bracket following a loss via pin in 1:32 to Anthony Ostrander, of Triton.

Willard advanced to the consolation round of four with a 4-1 win over Taconic’s Mike Puskey. He will face Nick Andreasen, of Norton, in the next round. Willard needs two wins to advance to the third-place match.

Hampshire’s Adin Clifford, Alex Willard and Nathaniel Picard were all eliminated in the tournament.

Clifford went 1-2 at 106 pounds with a 14-3 victory over Shawn Bernier, of Wayland. Picard also went 1-2. He pinned Sean Bubencik, of Foxborough, in 5:58 for his win.

Alex Willard (113) finished 0-2 in his weight class.

Smith Vocational sent four wrestlers to the tournament.

Joe Podolak is in the consolation round of four at 138.

He lost his first match via pin in 2:39 to Jay Fisher, of Holliston. Podolak rallied with two victories in the consolation bracket.

He pinned Kyle Lenihan, of Rockland, in 41 seconds, then beat Shea Fogarty, of Melrose, 10-6.

Podolak will face Kyle Brunelle, of Franklin Tech, next. Two more wins will put Podolak into the third-place match.

James Buddulph finished 1-2 at 170. He beat Jimmy Grover, of Wakefield, 4-1.

Casey Baldwin (160) and Race Drobiak (182) each went 0-2 in their weight classes for the Vikings.

Frontier Regional had three wrestlers compete.

Peyton Sladeski has put himself in position for a shot at third place at 106.

He will face James Fraser, of Foxborough, in the consolation round of four. Sladeski needs to win twice to reach the third-place match.

Sladeski pinned Chad Ellis, of South Shore, in 58 seconds in his first match. He lost to Wen Long Chen, of Josiah Quincy, 8-6 in the quarterfinals, then recovered with a pin in 4:56 of Luke Vitale, of Wilmington, in the consolation round of eight.

Ito McMillan finished 1-2 with a forfeit win over Matthew Cunningham, of Wakefield. Tanner Finch went 0-2 at 145.

Cayden Henriques, of South Hadley, went 1-2 at 113 with a 9-0 victory over Michael Derubeis, of Holliston. Teammate Noah Will went 0-2 at 215.

Gateway Regional had a pair compete. Brett Bonenfant (152) and Mathew Small (106) each went 0-2 in their matches.
