SPRINGFIELD — Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is coming to Springfield on Friday, his campaign announced on Monday night.

The Democratic candidate for president and current front-runner will hold a rally at the MassMutual Center starting at 7:30 p.m., according to his campaign’s website. During his 2016 presidential campaign, Sanders also held a rally in Springfield.

The event comes days ahead of the Massachusetts primary election next week on Super Tuesday. A recent poll from UMass Lowell Center for Public Opinion showed that Sanders and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren lead in the state, with 21% of those polled supporting Sanders and 20% supporting Warren.
