In what could possible be its last game of the season, the Amherst College baseball team beat Williams, 11-2, Wednesday at Memorial Field in Amherst.

Amherst made the decision on Tuesday to cancel all spring sports after Wednesday in response to growing COVID-19 concerns.

The athletic program has left open the possibility of games resuming if the situation surrounding the coronavirus changes.

The Mammoths (3-0) honored their seniors prior to the game against their rivals. Amherst proceeded to collect 15 hits and score all its runs during the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.

Severino Simeone (three runs, walk) and Chris Murphy (four RBIs, run) each finished 3-for-4.

Kai Terada-Herzer (RBI), William Murphy (two walks, three runs, two RBIs) and Topher Brown (two runs) each had two hits.

Zack Horwitz earned the win with one strikeout, one walk and three hits allowed over 3⅓ innings.

Carson Glazier struck out six in four perfect innings of middle relief.

Women’s lacrosse

Amherst College 13, Williams 9 — The Mammoths led 10-1 en route to the home win in potentially their last game of the season.

Isabelle Sennett (assist) had three goals, while Maia Noyes (assist) and Becky Kendall each had two for Amherst (4-1).

Claire Dunbar (goal) had two assists, while Sydney Larsen had one goal and one assist. Talia Land made nine saves in the win.
