AMHERST — Both beaches at Puffer’s Pond are closed to the public as part of the town’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Friday, Town Manager Paul Bockelman announced that signs would be posted at both locations beginning Sunday.
The closures do not restrict people from walking, jogging or biking at the North Amherst site, or from standing at the shoreline to fish, as long as social distancing is observed. Police officers will be patrolling the location for compliance, just as they are responding to any reports of gatherings of more than 10 people.
Meantime, all parking enforcement throughout the town, with exceptions for violations of handicapped parking spaces, tow zones and overnight restrictions during a snow emergency, is being suspended.
