AMHERST — Numerous bills that residents and property owners typically pay in late winter and early spring will have extended due dates.
Town Manager Paul Bockelman announced to the Town Council Monday that real estate and personal property tax bills, originally due May 1, and motor vehicle excise bills and water and sewer utility bills due on or around March 10, are all due June 1.
Property tax personal exemption and tax deferral applications, which had to be sought by April 1, are also being extended to June 1.
In addition, Bockelman said he is waiving payment of interest and other penalties for late bill payment until June 30, though payments after that date will be subject to interest and penalties back to June 1.
The actions come following an authority granted by the state Legislature during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Payments can be made by mail to Town Collector, Town of Amherst, 4 Boltwood Ave., Amherst, 01002, dropped off at the drop box located on the Main Street entrance of Town Hall or online at https://www.amherstma.gov/119/View-and-Pay-Bills.
