■Samuel Clarke and Sons, Merchant’s Row, keep constantly on hand a complete assortment of iron hollowware from the Hardwick Furnace, consisting of potash kettles, cauldrons, pots, kettles, spiders, skillets, high pans, basins, dogs, cart and wagon boxes, etc., which will be sold at the furnace prices.
■All stores and public buildings will be closed on Monday, Patriots’ Day. The barber shops will be open until 10 o’clock. No Gazette will be published on that day.
■The flag at Memorial Hall is at half-mast as a mark of respect to the memory of William Keating, the motorman who was killed in the railway accident yesterday afternoon. Mr. Keating was an ex-service man and the Grand Army men thought it an appropriate thing to fly the flag in honor of the memory of a man who had served his country.
■About 1000 Moose and their wives are taking part in the Annual Mid-Winter Conference of the Massachusetts and Rhode Island Moose Association being held in Northampton this weekend. The conference is being held at the Colonial Hilton Hotel.
■Students from Northampton High School’s Ecology Action Committee are planning a drive to “clean up” the areas around Northampton, including the old dump off Route 10 along the Mill River. They charge that some of the refuse is seeping into the river which merges with the Connecticut River a short distance away.
