NORTHAMPTON — Northampton Public Schools’ April vacation is canceled, superintendent John Provost announced Tuesday.
There will still be no school on Patriots’ Day, a state holiday on April 20, and the last day of school will be June 15.
“It is my hope that this change will provide greater continuity of learning and allow our families and staff to maintain the routines you’ve developed to get through this period,” Provost said in his announcement.
Similarly, April vacation for Holyoke Public Schools will be shortened by two days, state-appointed receiver-superintendent Stephen Zrike announced Friday. There will be no school from April 20 to April 22, and remote learning for the rest of that week.
“This approach allows us to balance the need to maintain our remote learning routines and our connections with students, while also providing an opportunity for students, families and staff to recharge and focus on their health and wellness,” Zrike wrote in an online message to the school community.
