NORTHAMPTON — A tree care company is giving away hundreds of free saplings this weekend.
C.L. Frank and Company, a division of Bartlett Tree Experts, is offering swamp white oak saplings outside its office at 50 Cooke Ave. from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday. To maintain a six-foot social distance, those picking up trees can stay in their vehicles.
“We will put the saplings … in a fishing net or we will have extension grabbers or some of us will have a lacrosse stick and we will hand it to them through their windows,” said Jennifer Raymond, an administrative assistant at the company.
The company had several Arbor Day events canceled due to the pandemic, and the team still wanted to find a way to give away saplings, said local manager Greg Beck.
It’s “totally free,” Raymond said. “There are no catches to it. None of that. We just have 500 saplings. It’s a great activity for the kids.”
