NORTHAMPTON — The state Department of Public Health reported 873 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 infections on Tuesday and 76 new deaths. There are now 87,925 confirmed cases statewide and 5,938 deaths.

The state reported Tuesday that 7,741 new tests were conducted, and 476,940 tests have been performed overall.

Overall, 2,472 people with confirmed cases are hospitalized, 627 of whom are in intensive care units.

The state has reported 780 confirmed cases and 73 deaths in Hampshire County, 308 cases and 45 deaths in Franklin County and 5,335 cases and 521 deaths in Hampden County.

Area hospitals

Cooley Dickinson Hospital is treating eight inpatients with confirmed COVID-19 infection as of Tuesday, two of whom are in the intensive care unit.

An additional 56 outpatients are under investigation for COVID-19 infection. The hospital has had 666 people test positive overall.

Baystate Health is treating 77 inpatients for confirmed COVID-19 infection across all of its hospitals, including 18 patients in critical care units. Seventy-six are hospitalized at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

Sixteen inpatients are under investigation for COVID-19 infection.

Baystate has tested 10,870 people to date, with 1,584 results coming back positive, 9,273 negative, and 49 pending results.
