NESN is airing a slate of classic Hockey East games from past iterations of Frozen Fenway over the next week.
Among them is UMass’ overtime victory over Vermont on Jan. 7, 2012.
Four games featuring seven different programs will be featured as NESN runs its “Summer School” slate of programming across both NESN and NESN+.
The schedule has contests spanning the last 10 years of the historic event from Boston’s famed ballpark, including the inaugural game from 2010.
The original event, played in concert with the National Hockey League’s Winter Classic, sold out in one day. In January 2012, Hockey East created a doubleheader event that featured the league’s four Division I state universities: Maine, UMass, New Hampshire and Vermont.
That year, Michael Marcou scored with 22.3 seconds left in overtime to give the Minutemen a 3-2 win over Vermont in the first game of the doubleheader.
