NORTHAMPTON — Key indicators of the spread of COVID-19 continued to decline Tuesday as the state Department of Public Health reported 140 new cases of confirmed infections and 18 new deaths, in addition to 55 probable cases.
There are now 101,474 confirmed cases statewide and 7,508 deaths among those cases.
The state reported conducting 6,361 tests for the virus Tuesday, marking a total of 719,236 tests.
The state has reported 930 confirmed cases and 103 deaths in Hampshire County, 353 cases and 51 deaths in Franklin County and 6,503 cases and 642 deaths in Hampden County.
The number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 in Massachusetts fell to 1,045, down from about 1,657 two weeks ago. The number of people in intensive care units fell to 244, down from 394 two weeks ago.
The seven-day weighted average of positive test rates has decreased by 91% since April 15, while the three-day average of hospitalized COVID-19 patients has decreased by 71% within this same period.
Cooley Dickinson Hospital reported on Tuesday that it is treating one inpatient with confirmed COVID-19 infection. The patient is not in the intensive care unit.
An additional 30 outpatients and one inpatient are under investigation for COVID-19 infection. To date, the hospital has had 753 people test positive.
Baystate Health is treating 25 inpatients for confirmed COVID-19 infection, including five patients in critical care units. Twenty-four of these patients are hospitalized at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.
Nineteen inpatients are under investigation for COVID-19 infection overall.
Baystate Health has tested 17,836 individuals in total, with 1,855 testing positive, 15,897 testing negative and 84 pending results.
