The Northampton Arcanums tied Agawam 5-5 at Arcanum Field in Florence on Monday, as the game was called after 7 innings due to darkness.
The teams exchanged runs throughout the game, with Northampton taking a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning off of a Bennett Kelly home run. Agawam responded with a run at the top of the seventh, and Northampton wasn’t able to do anything with bases loaded at the bottom of the inning after which the game was called.
Matt Sullivan and Seth Finnissey led the way on the mound for Northampton, pitching three innings each and allowing two runs apiece. Jackson Heath, Jake Brittain and Kelly each had two hits.
Northampton’s record is now 3-2-1 on the season.
Greenfield 7, Frontier 2 — Greenfield Sandy Koufax put together several runs in the final innings against Frontier Monday to secure a victory and maintain a perfect record on the season.
After a relatively quiet offensive game, Greenfield put up two runs in each of the final three innings to run away with the win. Braeden Tsipenyuk led the charge, going 2-2 for the team.
Jake Petrin started for Greenfield and allowed one run on two hits in three innings, striking out five. Hugh Cyhowski combined for the win, allowing one run on three hits in four innings on the mound.
Greenfield improved to 5-0 with the win, while Frontier fell to 1-3 on the year.
Amherst 14, Brattleboro 6 — Amherst Sandy Koufax continued its stellar season on Monday, handling Brattleboro in dominant fashion on the road.
Amherst produced a steady stream of runs, scoring in all but one inning. The team’s record improved to 4-1 on the season while Brattleboro dropped to 1-4.
