WESTHAMPTON — Town residents re-elected incumbent M. Wade Clement to the Planning Board and authorized the purchase of a four-wheel-drive, one-ton dump truck during its annual election Saturday.

A total of 228 of the town’s 1,264 registered voters participated in Saturday’s election, according to results provided to the Gazette by the town clerk.

The race for an open Planning Board seat with a term of two years was the only contested election on the ballot. Clement won against their opponent, Virginia M. Curtis, 147 to 64.

Voters also approved the purchase of the truck 152 to 68. Highway Superintendent Bill Jablonski previously told the Gazette that borrowing was approved at this year’s annual town meeting contingent on the article passing in this election, and that the borrowing authorization for the truck is $120,000.

In other races, Philip E. Dowling was elected to a three-year term on the Board of Selectman; Susan B. Bronstein and Gerard J. Ronan were elected to three-year terms on the Planning Board; Jeremy Robert Durrin and Barbara Pelissier won three-year terms on the Finance Committee; Thomas M. Cleary, Jr won a three-year term and Scott J. Johndrow won a one-year term on the Hampshire Regional School Committee.

Peter Cleary and Wesley Curtis Bowser won three-year terms on the Elementary School Committee; Benjamin A. Warren was elected to a one-year term as moderator; Thomas A. Jenkins won a one-year term as tree warden; Carol A. McMurrich and AnneMarie A. O’Reilly won three-year terms as library trustees; and Charles F. Inman won a three-year term as the constable (South District).

A two-year term and a three-year term on the Board of Assessors as well as a two year term on the Elementary School Committee went without candidates on the ballot, as did one three-year term on the Finance Committee. It was unclear at press time who won the write-in votes for these positions.
