PELHAM — A two-car crash in which a vehicle traveling south on Route 202 at the Pelham town line collided with the rear driver’s side of a northbound vehicle closed the state highway for about 90 minutes Wednesday morning, said Police Chief Gary Thomann.

Thomann said police were called to the scene at 10:38 a.m. The car traveling south, driven by a Monson man, appeared to cross into the northbound lane, striking a car driven by a Belchertown woman, according to Thomann.

Both drivers and two infants in car seats in the back seat of the woman’s vehicle were all examined by Belchertown and Amherst ambulance crews, but didn’t require any medical treatment, Thomann said.

Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and were towed from the scene. Belchertown and state police officers also responded to the crash, which remains under investigation.
