Despite her feeble attempts to avoid answering, Amy Coney Barret has been nominated 1) to put an end to Obamacare 2) to overturn Roe v. Wade. That she had dodged these questions shows how unpopular her positions. Most Americans want to keep abortion safe and legal for those who choose it, and most Americans want affordable medical insurance to remain available, especially coverage of preexisting conditions.
However, what most Americans want has never concerned the Republican Party.
To maintain themselves in power, they have subverted the Constitution, engaged in a widespread campaign of voter suppression and even tried to cripple our beloved United States Postal Service in a order to hinder voting by mail.
No one should imagine that the handpicked instrument of Republican reaction would hesitate to conceal her views if it served her purpose. Make no mistake about it. When Amy Barret gets her seat on the Supreme Court, we can kiss the Affordable Care Act and Roe v. Wade goodbye. Forever.
