Griffin Jones raced to a course record in 13 minutes, 35 seconds as the Amherst Regional boys cross country team beat Palmer, 15-50, on the road Tuesday.

The Hurricanes took the top 13.

Kyle Yanko was 3 seconds behind Jones on the 2.4-mile course. Ben Buffone (13:46), Ryan Yanko (13:51) and Diego Lopez (13:52) followed. Jackson Hinkel (13:56) was the sixth Amherst harrier to break 14 minutes.

Monson 22, Belchertown 33 โ€” The Mustangs took the top three spots and held off the Orioles on their 2.9-mile course at Foley Field.

Ethan Andrews (18:23), Karl Underwood (18:36) and Matt Stelmokas (19:07) were fourth, fifth and sixth for Belchertown. John Cowles (20:03) and Casey Drury (20:38) were 10th and 11th.

Girls cross country

Belchertown 27, Monson 29 โ€” Molly Bail picked up her second win of the season, finishing the 2.9-mile course at Foley Field in 23:10 for the Orioles.

The Mustangs took the next three spots, but Belchertown closed out the win with runners in the fifth through eighth positions.

Natalie Shaw (25:12) led the group in. Cameron Ting (25:24), Rebecca Patel (25:28) and Kami Wlodyka (25:41) followed.

Field hockey

Belchertown 1, South Hadley 0 โ€” Abigail Olden broke through with five seconds left in the first half as the Orioles held on for the road.

The Tigers had the better of play in the second half but couldnโ€™t get past Abigail Rothstein (seven saves). The Tigers outshot the Oโ€™s 12-6.

Kaitlyn Lynes finished with five saves in the season finale for South Hadley.

Girls volleyball

Belchertown 3, Paulo Friere 2 โ€” Lauren Majerowski had five kills, as the Orioles rallied from a two-set hole to win Monday. They lost the first two sets 25-16, 25-19 before surviving Set 3 27-25 and taking the final two 25-17 and 15-9.

Kelsey Reardon pulled up10 digs. Jenna Donovan fired four aces. Allison Cote distributed nine assists with three aces, and Laura Cote added six assists and three aces.
