The Hopkins Academy cross country program saw several harriers set personal bests during its season finale on Thursday.
The Golden Hawks raced against Athol in a non-scoring meet because the Red Raiders did not have enough runners to qualify for a score. Still, that didn’t stop Hopkins from cruising on its 3.1-mile course around Hadley Common.
Eighth grader Sylvie DiBartolomeo finished the girls meet in first, crossing in 21 minutes, 31 seconds. Her seventh grade sister Caprial followed in 24:10, while freshman Aurora Donta-Venman was third in 24:15.
All three times were personal records.
Freshman Jayce Lanzafame was fifth with a PR in 28:10, while classmate Alexis Selig was sixth in 32:12.
The Williamson sisters also set personal marks. Eighth grader Beatrix finished in 33:19, which was 11 minutes faster than her previous best. Freshman Astrid set a PR by 5 minutes, finishing in 33:38.
In the boys meet, seventh grader Teddy Cyr was second in 20:49. Senior Cade Lanzafame (21:02) followed in third, while freshman Chris Rex (22:10) was fifth.
Senior Zach Locher was seventh with a PR of 22:57. Freshman Jackson Graham (eighth) had a PR in 22:58), while eighth grader Ben Kosciusko (25:47) also had his best time.
Athol’s Brent Boudreau was first in 20:16.
Belchertown 19, Palmer 44 — Trevor Adamson and Sam Hunt took the top two spots on the podium in the Orioles’ road win. Adamson crossed the line in 15:10, while Hunt finished in 15:15. Carter Masse was fourth (15:58), Aiden Clancy took fifth (16:25) and Nico St. George finished seventh (16:45) on the 2.5-mile course.
Belchertown 15, Palmer 50 — Molly Bail won for third time this season, finishing the 2.5-mile course in 18:07 for the visiting Orioles.
Meredith Medina (19:14) was third and was the first of four straight Belchertown runners: Megan Watts (19:19), Abigail Potter (19:33) and Cameron Ting (19:45).
Belchertown 3, Paulo Freire 1 — The Orioles took a two-set lead on the visitors and held on for a 25-23, 25-19, 24-26, 25-18 victory.
Sophia Grazioso and Lauren Majerowski each had three kills. Allison Cote (four assists) and Adrien Wise had four aces apiece. Kelsey Reardon added seventh digs, while Jenna Donovan had four. Laura Cote chipped in with eight assists.
