HOLYOKE – Six tenants were displaced by a house fire at 403 South Elm St. Tuesday morning, according to the Holyoke Fire Department.

No one was injured in the blaze, which firefighters said was contained to a third-floor attic area of the two-family home.

Firefighters responded to the scene shortly before 10 a.m. after receiving a 911 call reporting smoke coming out of a third-floor window, according to Holyoke Fire Capt. Kevin Cavagnac. The fire was found in an attic bedroom and extinguished using a hose line.

The fire was contained to the bedroom which suffered extensive damage. The home’s second floor received water and smoke damage.

The Holyoke Fire Department is investigating the fire with assistance from state troopers assigned to the State Fire Marshal’s Office. The displaced tenants are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
