Tessa Kawall scored 15 points, as the Amherst Regional girls basketball team pulled away from Ludlow in the second quarter of a 47-29 road win Friday.

Sarah Hastie added 10 points and led Amherst’s defensive effort.

“It was an incredibly ugly game,” Amherst coach Ralph Loos said. “Ludlow makes you play that way, and we played that way on our own.”

The Hurricanes led 26-16 at the half.

Nany Mares contributed eight points from the backup point guard spot and took care of the ball.
