GOSHEN — Two individuals who work or volunteer at Town Hall have tested positive for COVID-19, according to a health board official.
Board of Health Chairman Michael Kurland said the town has three active cases of COVID-19 currently, and at least eight people in quarantine.
Of those three, two work or volunteer at Town Hall, which has been closed to the public since the start of the pandemic.
Individuals are quarantined if they have been in close contact with a person with COVID-19, meaning six feet or less away from the infected individual for a cumulative 15 or more minutes over a 24-hour period.
Kurland said those who are infected or quarantined will not be able to return to Town Hall until they’ve been cleared by the public health nurse Goshen works with and signed off on by Kurland. Kurland also said the cases in Goshen have not been declared a cluster, and that he doesn’t know whether the close contacts at Town Hall observed proper masking protocol.
Meantime, Kurland said efforts in Goshen to get those 75 and over vaccinated are going well.
“We have gotten lots of people vaccinated,” he said. “It’s been really great.”
Kurland said the Council on Aging called everyone in town 75 and over, and those who had difficulty registering were referred to him. He then called those individuals and registered them for vaccination at the Northampton site himself.
“You can do that in a small town,” Kurland said. “That’s what’s beautiful about the Hilltowns.”
He also praised how the Northampton vaccination site has been run.
