Nine consecutive goals to end the first half and start the second allowed the Boston College women’s lacrosse team to pull away from UMass 19-7 on Tuesday in Chestnut Hill.

Brinley Anderson scored with 3 minutes, 56 seconds until halftime to pull the Minutewomen (1-1) within three goals at 9-6. UMass (1-1) didn’t find the net again for 28:19 when Olivia Muscella broke the drought from Fiona McGowan to make it 18-7.

UMass led 4-2 in the first 11 minutes after three consecutive goals. Haley Connaughton had two goals and an assist to lead the Minutewomen, while Stephanie Croke also scored twice.

Kelly Marra each added a goal, while Alex Finn and Kaitlyn Cerasi each had an assist.

Lauren Hiller stopped nine shots and took the loss, while Bridgette Wall made two saves in relief.

UMass next plays at UConn on Sunday. The Minutewomen’s home opener is March 10 against UMass Lowell.
