HATFIELD – Jim Crowell of Hatfield ventured down to the Mill River dam by the Old Mill to do some fishing on Thursday and even though temperatures have been noticeably warmer, his spikes came in handy for the icy walk down to the shoreline. Crowell said he’s caught bass and trout here in different years – depending on what’s been stocked in the stream – but one thing is constant: he said he’ll continue a tradition of freeing the first fish he catches.
