WHATELY — A milk truck rolled over on Interstate 91 early Sunday morning, blocking the road for about four hours. No one was injured.

The milk truck was traveling south from Vermont to Connecticut when the accident occurred, according to Whately Fire Chief John Hannum.

Near a truck stop just south of Deerfield at around 5:30 a.m., the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle, hit the guard rail on the median side of the interstate, and then skidded farther down the road, spilling milk. Hannum said the original cause of the driver losing control is unknown.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

The driver, whom Hannum declined to identify, was apparently uninjured, and refused medical treatment, Hannum said.

“That’s amazing. Never would have thought that,” Hannum said.

Interstate 91 was closed until soon after 9 a.m., while the truck was removed from the road and debris was swept away, Hannum said.
