WARE — A 58-year-old man died in a Friday night fire at a Ware home, according to the Northwestern district attorney’s office.
John Hebert, the owner of the 402 Palmer Road home, was killed in the fire that began in the basement of the one-story residence. The fire was determined to be accidental by investigators.
Firefighters unsuccessfully attempted to resuscitate Hebert after arriving at the scene around 7:20 p.m.
Smoking and candle use could have started the fire, investigators said, but there is no evidence that the fire was started intentionally, according to the state Fire Marshal’s Office.
