SOUTH HADLEY — With town elections approaching on April 13, South Hadley will have a virtual candidate forum Thursday.
The South Hadley organization Know Your Town and South Hadley Community Television are hosting the “Virtual Candidates’ Night,” which will be broadcast on channel 15 and on South Hadley Community Television’s website. The forum will begin 6:30 p.m with candidates for uncontested races, followed by those running for the four contested offices: Select Board, School Committee, Board of Health and Municipal Light Board.
Joan Rosner of Know Your Town and Dalton Zbierski of the Town Reminder newspaper will moderate the event. In addition to introductory speeches, candidates for contested office will respond to questions that the public submits online in advance of the forum.
Running for two seats on the Select Board are four candidates: Trevor Baptiste, Carol Constant, incumbent Jeffrey Cyr and Renee Sweeney.
Also four candidates — none of them incumbents — are vying for two open spots on the School Committee: Danielle Cooke, Jennifer Matos, Brian Morris and Roxanne Sprague.
Running for two seats on the Municipal Light Board are: Carl Cameron, incumbent Gregory Dubreuil, incumbent Peter McAvoy and Joel Patruno.
There are also two one-year terms up for grabs on the Board of Health. The three candidates for those seats are: Christine McKiernan, Johanna Ravenhurst and Adam Sprague.
Those voting in the town election have until April 7 at 5 p.m. to apply for an absentee ballot or a mail-in ballot. Applications can be found on the Town Clerk’s website, and can be submitted electronically, by mail or by hand at the secure drop box behind the town police station. Those ballots must be received by the town clerk by 6 p.m. on April 13.
Election day is April 13, and in-person voting hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. All voting will take place at South Hadley High School.
