■Edwin Scagel took time out from an Easter hunt to chat with Peter Rabbit. Both boy and bunny participated in the hunt Sunday afternoon at Look Park. Young Edwin’s curiosity was stronger than any fear of the unknown as he listened to talk about Easter eggs and other rabbit tales.

■Water damage to a printing shop in the Metcalf Printing Co., at 51 Clark Ave. Saturday was described as a “mere catastrophe” by Leonard Baskin, an internationally known sculptor who uses part of the building. Water from a sprinkling system damaged and destroyed books which were in the process of being printed.

■Some 100 federal agents and state and local police took part in an elaborate drug operation last night, arresting three members of a national motorcycle gang at the Northampton Airport. The sting was part of a crackdown by federal authorities on suspected drug-trafficking activities.

■City school administrators warned last night the state may not provide a cushion, as expected, for revenue losses resulting from students enrolling in charter schools. That would mean a loss of more than $5,000 to the school system for each students attending a charter school next year.

■The U.S. Postal Service is looking into shuttering the Leverett post office, a spokeswoman said this week, in a move that would bring an end to mail service at a site that has served residents since 1855. Leverett is one of 10 towns in a postal region that includes western Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island that is being reviewed for possible closure.

■A mural shaped like Hampshire County, showcasing some of the problems afflicting the world and ways they can be solved, could soon join the vintage graffiti on the west side of the Amherst Cinema building on Amity Street. Youth Action Coalition is proposing the installation of the mural, featuring a combination of paint and metal work that would be unveiled at the June Art Walk, the town’s monthly celebration of art.
