WILLIAMSBURG — Three finalists have been selected for the town administrator’s position.
The finalists were presented to the Select Board at its Thursday meeting by the Town Administrator Search Committee. They are Williamsburg Town Clerk Brenda Lessard, Pittsfield City Councilor Nicholas Caccamo and Carl McKinney, the former town administrator of Clarksburg.
“We felt that these three applicants were the strongest candidates for the position,” said Charles Dudek, who chairs the committee.
The finalists are seeking to replace current Town Administrator Charlene Nardi, who is leaving the job to take a position as Northampton’s finance director in May. Nardi has been town administrator in Williamsburg since 2011.
The finalists were selected from among seven applicants. The committee is now tasked with doing reference checks on the applicants.
Dudek said that in reviewing the candidates, some of the qualities the committee looked for were management experience and experience dealing with the public.
“I just want to thank Charles and his committee for jumping up and doing that in such a short time,” said Select Board Member David Mathers.
The Select Board will interview the candidates at a meeting on Tuesday at 2 p.m., which was changed from Monday due to a scheduling conflict with one of the candidates. Each of the interviews are scheduled for 45 minutes, with 15 minutes in between.
At its meeting, the Select Board also discussed its list of questions for the candidates.
“We’re looking for a person who will be able to guide Williamsburg forward in a matter that is consistent with our values, procedures and expectations … And in a manner that is professional and efficient,” said William Sayre, the chair of the Select Board, in an interview outside of the meeting.
The Select Board is set to discuss the candidates at an Wednesday meeting at 9 a.m., where it is expected to make an offer.
