Easthampton’s Chelsea Indyk struck out 13 with just two walks, as the Eagles softball team defeated Holyoke 21-0 in five innings on the road Thursday at John Young Field.
Indyk was also 3-for-4 at the plate with a double, and scored four runs.
Tessa Pond also touched home four times and added three hits.
Frontier 17, Mohawk Trail 3 — Lucia Doulette was 4-for-4 with a home run, while Charlotte Doulette and Olivia Deane also went deep to propel the Red Hawks to a convincing 17-3 Franklin County League win in five innings at Zabek Field.
CC Greene smacked four hits and scored four runs out of the clean-up spot in the lineup, while Macy Ring finished 3-for-3 with three RBIs for Frontier (1-0, 1-0). Deane, Delaney Fifield and Amanda Canepa all finished with two hits. Deane’s home run led off the bottom of the first.
Deane struck out five in the pitching circle over three innings while Chloe Cutting and Jillian Apanell each tossed a scoreless inning of relief. The relievers combined for five strikeouts.
Franklin Tech 14, Gateway 0 (5) – Kaitlyn Maynard had her first varsity hit for the Gators, and Stephanie Paiva reached base twice.
Minnechaug 14, South Hadley 5 — Owen Dawson scored twice, while James Couture, Charles Wykowski and Jack Sullivan had a goal each for the Tigers. Ethan Roy contributed an assist. Nate Loughman stopped four shots.
Pope Francis 15, Northampton 3 — Ryan O’Connor netted a hat trick for the Blue Devils. Connor Tobin and Vincent Fahey had an assist each. Danie Huntley stopped 11 shots.
Frontier 137, Belchertown 8 — The Frontier girls track team won every event on Thursday en route to a 137-8 victory over Belchertown in Suburban League action held in South Deerfield.
Amelia Sobieski took home first in the shot put (29 feet, 3½ inches) and the discus (75-3) while Alena Maes-Polan won the high jump (4-8) and pole vault (7-6). Reilly Isler won the javelin (100-1), Iris Hill came in first in the triple jump (27-½) and Summer Sobieski earned a win in the long jump (13-7¾).
Abbe Roberts won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.8 seconds, Lila Evans took first in the 100 (13.8 seconds) and Hannah Mackin’s time of 6:45 was good for first in the 1-mile.
Alyson Barnes won the 400 for Frontier with a time of 66.7 seconds. Sadie Ross took first in the 400 hurdles (83.1), Abi Howard earned a victory in the 800 (2:46.3), Sierra Warren’s time of 29.2 seconds was first in the 200 and Isabella Graves won the 2-mile (14:37.8).
The Redhawks won the 4×100 and 4×400 relays as well.
