CUMMINGTON – Monday’s town election resulted in all three incumbents running for the Cummington Recreation and Pettingill Memorial Field Committee being re-elected.
The election was a low turnout affair, with just 74 of Cummington’s 693 registered voters casting a ballot, a 10.7% turnout.
The only positions contested on the ballot were three seats on the Cummington Recreation and Pettingill Memorial Field Committee. In that contest, incumbents Laurie Freitag, Donna Forgea, and Amy Grallert were all re-elected, while challenger Joshua Wachtel fell short. Freitag received 60 votes, Grallert received 72, Forgea received 44 and Wachtel received 39.
In addition, these uncontested seats were filled at the election: Selectman, Brian Gilman; Assessor, Mark Bevan; Moderator, Joshua Wachtel; Vocational School Committee, Sharon Cunningham; Almoner of Charitable Funds, Joyce Wiernasz; Commissioner of Trust Funds, Amanda Savoie; Water Commissioner, Tomasz Jaracz; Bryant Library Trustee; Finance Committee (two), Scott Keith and Maureen Tumenas; Board of Health, John Earls; Planning Board (one year) James Wettereau; Planning Board (five years), Dennis Carr; Municipal Light Plant (two) Allan Douglas and Maureen Tumenas.
