HUNTINGTON — An annual and a special Town Meeting will be held Monday. The fiscal year 2022 operational budget and whether to reduce the number of legal posting places from six to five will be among the articles voters will tackle.

The Performing Arts Center at Gateway Regional Middle/High School will host both meetings. The special Town Meeting is set to start at 6:30 p.m., while the annual Town Meeting is at 7 p.m.

The special Town Meeting has only a single article on its warrant, a proposal to transfer $24,900 to three operational accounts.

The annual Town Meeting warrant has 12 articles. Among them is Article 8, which asks to fund the town’s assessment from the Gateway Regional School District of $2,925,044.

The total proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year, which includes the assessment, is $5,711,556, which is less than a 2% increase, or $96,222, more than the fiscal year 2021 budget of $5,615,334.

Out of that number the operational budget has a proposed increase of 4.26%, from $1,679,147 in fiscal year 2021 to a proposed $1,750,673 in fiscal year 2022.

In Article 13 voters will decide whether or not to remove the Knightville Package Store from the list of legal posting places for the town, reducing that number from six to five.

The other posting locations are the Post Office, Town Hall, Norwich Fire Station, B&D Variety Store and Moltenbrey’s Market.
