South Hadley freshman Owen Dawson amassed seven points, scoring four goals with three assists Monday, as the Tigers boys lacrosse team beat Amherst 12-3 at home.
Charlie Anischik had a hat trick, while Ethan Roy and Cade Laramee added two goals and an assist each for the Tigers. Jack Sullivan found the net once. Caleb Bradley and Brock Fitzell each contributed an assist.
South Hadley’s Anthony Cigal stopped 17 shots.
John Hanscom (assist), Dom McDonald and Shire Thompson had a goal each for Amherst.
Hurricanes goalie Liam Johnson made 11 saves.
Frontier 98, Franklin Tech 24 — Jack Vecellio took down another school record, as the Redhawks capped an undefeated regular season to win the league championship.
He crossed the 400-meter hurdles finish line in 57.2 seconds, breaking Phaelon Koski’s mark of 57.5 from 2019. Vecellio also won the 100 (11.5).
Jesse Kurkolonis was first in the javelin at 119 feet, 4 inches and the 110 hurdles (18.2)
Ian Burt took first in the triple jump (35-8) and 400. He was on Frontier’s winning 4×400 relay team (4:21.3) with Patrick Boyden, Jamih Griffin and Erich Brown.
Brown placed first in the 800.
Oliver Brown led off the Redhawks’ victorious 4×1 (50.2) follows by Longyao Xu, Jack Storm and Miles Ferreira. Ferreira also picked up a victory in the 200 (25.2)
