HOLYOKE — City police say that for the second time in recent months, a drive-by shooting took place in the area of Homestead Avenue Wednesday night.

Nobody was injured in the latest incident, which police say took place at a home on Homestead at around midnight. In a statement posted to social media, Holyoke police said that bullets hit the house and a car at the scene.

“Approximately 12 shell casings and projectiles were recovered,” police said. “The casings are consistent with being the ammunition used when fired from an AK-47-style rifle platform.”

Police also reported that on Saturday at 2:30 a.m., somebody in a silver Honda Civic with shiny black rims was seen shooting at motorcycles in the area of Clemente and Adams streets. There were no injuries reported in that incident.

On July 28, police announced they were investigating a drive-by shooting into a second-floor apartment on Bowers Street.

On Aug. 13, Holyoke police said that a bullet struck the windshield of a police cruiser, at chest level, as an officer sat inside the car at a Commercial Street gas station.

A spokesperson for the Holyoke Police Department could not be reached for further comment Thursday morning.
