WILLIAMSBURG – A portion of Depot Road will be closed for an estimated two months beginning Monday as a culvert replacement project that’s been long in the works gets underway.
“The road will be closed roughly for the next eight weeks in a perfect scenario,” Town Administrator Nick Caccamo said.
Caccamo said he is optimistic about the timeline, which will involve taking out the existing culvert and support structures and replacing them. The section of road that will be affected is between 21 and 25 Depot Road. “That chunk of road is going to be dug up,” he said.
Caccamo said emergency services have been notified of the change to the road, which will prevent thru traffic. He said the town appreciates the patience of residents who live around the project.
The cost of the project is estimated at $516,248. The town appropriated $217,872 at a special Town Meeting to help pay for it. The town also was awarded a $350,000 grant for the project.
